KEEP TAXES REASONABLE​

• Cap residential property tax increases to rate of inflation or below.

• Increase property tax rebate for seniors.

• Reduce spending on consultants.

• Aggressively pursue federal, provincial and regional grant opportunities.

• Attract new commercial and industrial development to reduce residential property taxes. 

 

PRIORITIZE ROAD REPAIRS

• Ensure Ward 4 gets its fair share of funds allocated to road repairs.  (In 2026, the Town is resurfacing only one road through its pavement-management program: Snooks Rd ). 

• Push to get much needed road repairs in Jackson's Point, including Pinery Lane, Thompson Drive, Melody Lane and others. ​

CAP WATER BILLS AND CONDUCT REVIEW OF CONSUMPTION READINGS

• Introduce motion to have water rate increases capped to inflation or below. 

• Request Town staff review households with large consumption increases to determine cause.

MORE AFFORDABLE HOUSING​

• Increase infill building by reducing red tape and offering financial incentives.

• Push builders to offer more duplex, triplex and multiplex housing options.

• Lobby Region for Vacancy Tax to encourage owners of abandoned properties to sell or renovate.

• ​Work with housing co-operatives, non-profits and charities, like Habitat for Humanity and St.Vincent De Paul Society, to build affordable housing.

• Lobby Housing York Inc. and Region to build more senior housing in Sutton.

 

IMPROVE SERVICES​

• Restore recycling for small businesses in Sutton and Jackson's Point Business Improvement Areas (BIA)

• Establish service desk at Sutton Public Library, where residents can pay water and tax bills.

• Lobby credit union to open branch on High St. 

• Work with Bell & Rogers to improve cell phone coverage.

• Push for free public wifi at waterfront parks.

REVITILIZE SUTTON & JACKSON'S POINT​​

• Upgrade amenities at De La Salle Park, Jackson's Point Harbour, Mill Pond Park, and Sutton & JP parkettes. ​

• Replace Multi-Use Path on Lake Drive with sidewalk and restore two-way shared road year round. 

• Support small business owners in Sutton & Jackson's Point with fee rebates, service improvements and innovative marketing programs. 

• Work with Sutton & Jackson's Point BIA to attract new businesses to downtown cores. 

• Add municipal parking in Jackson’s Point and Sutton.

• Encourage commercial landlords to rent out their empty storefronts to pop-up stores.

• Establish new recreational/sport facilities for youth, including half-basketball court and outdoor skating rink.

• More festivals, outdoor markets and special events, including live music concerts/theatre in De La Salle Park.

• Replace municipal lawns with pollinator gardens and indigenous plant species

IMPROVE PROPERTY STANDARDS

• Adopt Vacant Building Registry, similar to East Gwillimbury's, in which vacant buildings are identified earlier, reducing safety and property-standard problems, and preventing vacant buildings from deteriorating over time.

• Shift more responsibility on the property owner, who will be required to pay registration and permit fees.

RESTORE SKILLED TRADES TRAINING IN SUTTON

• Work with Feds, Province, Region, TOG and private sector partners to restore skilled trades training programs for adults and youth in Sutton.

MORE RESIDENT INPUT

• Quarterly meetings at the LINK for residents in Ward 4.

• Ward 4 social media groups.

​

PROTECT LAKE SIMCOE

• Lobby to restore full funding for Lake Simcoe Clean-Up Fund. 

• Reduce use of road salt, including supporting limited liability legislation that protects contractors.

• Tougher bylaws and measures to deal with illegal dumping, which threatens local wetlands, tributaries that flow into Lake Simcoe, and our groundwater.
